The pressure on the hazelnut market extended in the last couple of weeks. The prices are increasing on daily basis. Due to the lack of supply on the market and the increasing demand, the prices are moving upwards in huge steps.

Also the export figures are higher than expected and therefore there’s more need for material to produce with.

Therefore we see more factories, who still have some stock, offering just very small parts of their stocks at very high prices. Another important fact is that last week was presented that an insect settled itself in the hazelnut regions.  This insect could cause major damage to the current hazelnut crop.

At the beginning of this week the pressure reached a climax and a major part of the factories decided only to work with very high indication prices till further notice.

During the following weeks we will see how the market will evolve and how it will affect on the current crop quantity, quality and prices.
